About Playground Poker Club

Playground Poker Club is located at 1500 Route 138, Kahnawake, QC — roughly 500km from Toronto, about a five-hour drive. It operates under the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and is the largest poker room in Canada by capacity.

Playground has hosted WSOP Circuit events since 2022 and set the record for the largest WSOP Circuit Main Event prize pool ever — C$4,450,500 in August 2025, drawn by 1,978 entries. The April 2026 series produced the second-largest, at C$4,042,870 with 1,781 entries. Both records were set at Playground.

The venue's trajectory has been clear. Andrew Johnson, Playground's Assistant Director of Poker Operations, said of the Super Circuit announcement: "It's going to be the biggest tournament Canada has ever seen, and that's a fact."

For Ontario players, Playground is the default destination for major live tournaments. WSOP Circuit events at Playground attract fields from across Canada and the United States, and the qualifier infrastructure through GGPoker means Ontario players have the same access as anyone else.

The Jacob Hobday Qualifier Story

The August 2025 Playground Circuit Main Event produced one of Canadian poker's best-known recent stories. Jacob Hobday from Toronto won the C$4.45M prize pool event and took home C$620,000 (C$448,000 USD). He entered through a C$75 satellite on GGPoker. The same step-satellite system that allowed a C$75 investment to turn into a C$620,000 score is the infrastructure that feeds into the Super Circuit Main Event this August.

For Ontario players, this is the most direct illustration of what the qualifier pathway looks like in practice. You don't need to buy directly into the C$5,000 Main Event.

What Is the WSOP Super Circuit?

The World Series of Poker Super Circuit is a higher-tier version of the standard WSOP Circuit. Standard Circuit stops typically feature a Main Event with a guarantee in the C$500K to C$2M range. Super Circuit stops raise that significantly, with the Canada edition guaranteeing C$10M — the equivalent of a major international stop.

Super Circuit events award WSOP gold rings (the same prestige level as the regular Circuit), and the winner of the Main Event earns automatic qualification to the WSOP Player of the Year standings. It's the same WSOP branding, structure, and sanctioning as a Las Vegas event, held in Canada for the first time.

FAQs

August 24 through September 9, 2026 at Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec, approximately five hours from Toronto. It is the first WSOP Super Circuit held in Canada.

The Main Event carries a C$10,000,000 guaranteed prize pool with a C$5,000 buy-in. Playground's Andrew Johnson has called it "the biggest tournament Canada has ever seen."

Online qualifiers for all Playground WSOP events run exclusively on GGPoker. Step satellites are expected to start from under C$100 and work through multiple rounds to award a C$5,000 Main Event seat. Watch GGPoker.ca for qualifier announcements, typically released 6-8 weeks before the event. You must be 19+ and physically located in Ontario to use GGPoker.ca.

In addition to the Main Event, Super Circuit stops typically include a High Roller, multiple NLH ring events, a PLO event, a Seniors Championship, a Ladies Championship, and various turbo/bounty formats. The full schedule will be published on wsop.com before the event.

Three other stops: the April series (record C$4M prize pool), May 10-25, and November 2-17. The Super Circuit in August is the headline event of the year.
