WSOP Ontario is powered by GGPoker, which has one of the largest tournament schedules in the world. As a result, when you register at WSOP.ca you can get involved in lots of different types of poker tournaments.

On this page, we’ll tell you about all the different types of tournaments that you can expect to find when you register at WSOP Ontario.

To play in any tournament, you will need an account. If you live in Ontario and are yet to register, it only takes a minute to open your account and download the app.

Guaranteed Tournaments

Guaranteed tournaments come with a guaranteed prize pool, which is distributed even if the total buy-in amount is less than the guaranteed amount. If there are more buy-ins than the guaranteed prize pool, the total money pool will increase.

Freezeout Tournaments

At the start of the tournament, all players will receive an equal amount of chips. If you lose all of your chips, you are eliminated from the tournament. If the tournament is not a rebuy tournament, then it will be a freezeout.

N-Stack Tournaments

In an N-Stack tournament, you are given a set number of chip stacks upon registration. Before the tournament begins, you can decide how many N-stacks you will start with, and how many you want to keep to use later.

Progressive Bounty Tournaments

In a Progressive Knockout (PKO) Bounty, you have a ‘bounty’ on your head. When you are knocked out, half of the value of the bounty will be added on to the bounty of the player who knocks you out. The other half of the bounty is awarded as an instant cash prize to the player who knocked you out!

Rebuy Tournaments

At the start of a rebuy tournament, all players receive an equal amount of tournament chips. During the tournament, you can purchase additional chips equivalent to the starting chip stack (which is known as a rebuy).

You can rebuy at any time during specified time periods.  The number of available rebuys depending on the tournament you are playing in.

Shootout Tournaments

In a Shootout, the tables are not balanced as players are knocked out. Up to nine players can be seated at a table, and play continues until there is a winner on each. Once play on all tables in this first ’round’ have a winner, those winners are reseated at a new table, with a second ’round’ then taking place.

Further rounds continue in the same way until all of the prize winning positions have been filled and the tournament has an outright winner.

Satellite Tournaments

Satellites are qualifying events that give you an opportunity to win a seat to the main tournaments which have a higher buy-in.

You can enter Satellite tournaments to main event and Bounty Hunters tournaments in both turbo and normal speed types when you play at WSOP.ca.

Turbo Tournaments

Turbo tournaments are quicker versions of regular tournaments, with shorter blind levels and less time to make your move. At this GGPoker-powered poker room you can play a number of different turbo tournaments, including daily guarantees and satellites.
